A LIFE STYLE SUGGESTION. A collaborative group exhibition in the form of a temporary apartment.
At the crossroads between an apartment and a gallery, ‘A life style suggestion’ emerges into the dynamic space of Sorgenfri. Showcasing a selection of artworks and collectible furniture curated by Norwegian vintage furniture dealer Bruksmann and Oslo based creative studio Pteron.
Victor Nicolai / Pteron, Jarl Bomann / Bruksmann and Ingrid Bredholt behind Sorgenfri met through friends in Antwerp last year. “The idea of a new kind of scenery evolved quite naturally”, says Victor Nicolai. “-Inspired by Belgium’s art scene and the provenance European way of seeing good design as art.“
The distinct assemblage of objects convert into stylistic boundaries, inviting the viewer to thoughtfully appreciate the value om form and material.
Bruksmann’s collection is focused around French and Scandinavian furniture together with antique and ancient objects of vessels and trays. His collection is carefully paired with the characteristic and futuristic printed photography by Victor Nicolai, this time developed in cooperation with Bredholt. In addition Bredholt is showing a series of paintings and sculptures made in Antwerp last year, which fuses the past with the future.
Established in 2019, Sorgenfri’s curatorial program and artist run exhibition space presents a balance of established and emerging talents as well commission work, all unfolding within the walls of a 17th century building in the center of Oslo. It’s within this space, the group show in the form of a temporary apartment has set it’s scene, fitting into Sorgenfri’s principles of craft, intuition and a new wave. And the quirky name of the exhibition is an ironic nod to some of the rare and highly priced collectible must see pieces within the show.
